More than ever, people are choosing to eat plant-based food (especially in January). It’s an easy way to reset after the festive season while still eating food that feels good, tastes great and supports your new year health goals. Whether you’re curious about cutting back on meat, looking to feel lighter and more energised, or just want to make more sustainable choices, a plant-led approach is one of the simplest habits you can adopt.
So why eat plant-based? A well-balanced plant-based diet is naturally rich in fibre, vitamins and antioxidants, which can support weight loss, improve heart health and help you feel fuller for longer.
For many people, it’s also a healthier everyday pattern than meat-heavy eating, especially when dishes focus on whole foods like vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts and seeds. And beyond personal wellbeing, choosing plant-based meals is better for the environment, too, with a lower carbon footprint and more sustainable use of resources. Win-win. However you choose to approach it, flexitarian, vegan for a month, or just swapping a few meals a week, eating more plants is one small change that can deliver big, long-term benefits.

The very best of Caravan’s plant-based dishes
Plant-based at Caravan has never been an afterthought. From the early days at Exmouth Market to nine restaurants across London and Manchester, we’ve always cooked the kind of food we like to eat: big on flavour, fresh, colourful and designed for sharing: whether you’re vegan, veggie, flexi or just plant-curious.
This guide pulls together the very best of our plant-based and vegan dishes from the all-day menu: the plates our regulars come back for, the ones that accidentally end up being the stars of the table.
How we do plant-based at Caravan
We don’t start with labels. We start with flavour. The fact something happens to be plant-based (pb), vegetarian (v), without gluten (wg) or without dairy (wd) just lets you scan the menu quickly and order with confidence.
A few things that matter to us:
- Well-travelled flavours: you’ll see touches of the Middle East, Southeast Asia, the Mediterranean and beyond.
- Balance and texture: crisp + creamy, fresh herbs, pickles, spices and good fats to keep plates interesting.
- All-day flexibility: you can eat plant-based at Caravan from morning coffee right through to late-night pizzas, small plates and cocktails.
Look out for the [pb] symbol to find our fully plant-based dishes.
Plant-based small plates to share
Our menu is built around sharing, and a lot of the “order for the table” hits are plant-based by design.
Crisp chilli-salt tofu
Baby spinach, ketjap manis, spring onion, shiso, chilli, sesame.
This is one of those dishes that converts the tofu-sceptical. The tofu is crisp and golden on the outside, silky inside, with a sweet-salty glaze, fresh herbs and a bit of heat. Great with a martini, a kombucha or a cold beer.
Spiced cauliflower, green tahini, gunpowder, coriander
Cauliflower roasted until caramelised, sitting on a pool of herby green tahini, finished with gunpowder spice and fresh coriander. It’s rich, nutty and bright all at once: a proper plant-based comfort dish that still feels light.

For-the-table plant-based snacks
Perfect for that “something to pick at with drinks” moment:
- Marcona almonds and nocellara del belice olives
- Steamed edamame, sea salt
- Smacked cucumber, sesame chilli oil, spring onion, crispy shallots

Grains + bowls: big, colourful plant-based plates
If you’re looking for a healthy plant-based bowl, this is the Caravan answer: generous, well-seasoned plates that don’t feel like a compromise.
Burnt stem broccoli bowl [pb, wg]
Burnt stem broccoli, charred sweet potato, spiced black bean salsa, green chutney coconut yoghurt.
This is one of our hero plant-based mains. Smoky charred veg, a punchy black bean salsa and a cooling green chutney coconut yoghurt bring heat, freshness and creaminess to every bite. It’s naturally without gluten, fully plant-based and properly filling.
Plant-based sourdough pizza
If you’re after a vegan pizza, our slow-fermented dough is a good place to land.
Roasted squash
All the comfort of a cheesy, chilli-hit pizza – none of the dairy. The plant-based cheese brings that creamy, melty feel; the fermented Calabrian chilli gives a gentle heat; roasted squash adds sweetness; rocket and red onion keep it bright. It’s the one vegans and non-vegans usually end up sharing.
Drinks to match your plant-based feast
Alongside coffee roasted in our north London roastery, there’s a full line-up of non-alcoholic and low-sugar drinks that sit nicely with plant-based eating:
- Ferments & sodas like You + I kombucha, Agua de Madre water kefir and prebiotic sodas.
- Fresh juices: think carrot, orange, ginger and turmeric or beetroot, apple and lemon.
- Herbal teas and infusions such as fresh mint tea, hibiscus, rooibos and more.
Our coffees can be made with soy, almond, oat or coconut milk, so your flat white, latte or iced coffee can be fully plant-based too.
